Human Health and Diseases: A Poetic Journey

Human Health and Diseases: A Poetic Journey

Introduction

Health is wealth, a priceless gem,
A shield against life’s every mayhem.
Our body fights, defends with might,
Against diseases, day and night.

Health and Its Importance

A balanced diet and exercise too,
Keep our body strong and new.
Vitamins, minerals, proteins, and more,
Help in keeping infections at the door.

Types of Diseases: Infectious and Non-Infectious

Some diseases spread, some stay confined,
Pathogens and lifestyle—both combined.
Infectious ones, like flu and cold,
Spread through air, or touch untold.
Non-infectious ones like diabetes stay,
Due to lifestyle, they find their way.

Common Diseases in Humans

Bacterial Diseases

Tuberculosis—lungs feel sore,
Cough and fever, body’s war.
Typhoid comes with fever high,
Widal test tells if it's nigh.

Viral Diseases

Dengue spreads with a mosquito’s bite,
Platelets drop, a fevered fight.
Hepatitis makes the liver weak,
Jaundice turns the skin unique.

Protozoan and Helminth Diseases

Malaria comes from Anopheles’ flight,
Plasmodium makes the blood cells fight.
Elephantiasis swells the limb,
A parasitic worm within so grim.

Immunity: Our Body’s Shield

Innate Immunity

Born with barriers, skin and more,
Mucus traps what’s at the door.

Acquired Immunity

Memory cells recall the fight,
Vaccines train them to do it right.
B cells, T cells—warriors true,
Destroy invaders, make us new.

AIDS and Cancer: The Silent Killers

HIV sneaks, immune cells fade,
AIDS develops, life delayed.
Cancer grows uncontrolled, unkind,
Chemo and therapy hope to bind.

Drugs and Addiction: A Dark Trap

Opioids, alcohol—habits grim,
Weaken bodies, dull the vim.
Prevention, awareness light the way,
To keep the youth from going astray.

Vaccination and Prevention

Polio drops, measles shot,
Immunity builds, sickness fought.
Hygiene, health, and habits bright,
Keep us safe, our future light.

Conclusion

Health’s a treasure, guard it well,
With food and habits, let it dwell.
Diseases lurk, but we shall win,
With science, care, and strength within.
